The other factor of note in this is users and training. I like the concepts of Extruded product builder and Solid model analyzer but based on what I've seen I think with some setup and tuning, fusion 360 surpasses those tools pretty quickly. That being said, Fusion 360 seems to have some pretty slick features for custom stuff that microvellum is just not there on yet. I do a great deal of my estimating work in microvellum and it's become an integral part of our business. We've been using microvellum for 15 years and I have no intention of switching entirely. While there are obvious flaws in this line of thinking, (Like where do you find time to build a library from scratch), the idea of using fusion 360 is intriguing to me. "If you're spending tens of thousands of dollars on Microvellum or Cabinet vision for their entire library of products, construction methods etc, why not build it all from scratch in fusion 360 exactly the way you want it". Someone I spoke to recently at an AWI event had an interesting thought that went something like this,
#Fusion 360 forum update
Hoping this helps !, takes a little time to update also to an educational license after you fill all this info in.Curious on first impressions of Fusion 360. This asks for the name of the school etc, and also asks for start and end dates for the pupil.

#Fusion 360 forum registration
I was not aware of potential expiration for student accounts.Īs noted, when we create a new account the registration process does not mention education and you only get a 30-day trial period.Having not signed up for this before, i also noticed if you signup via the program there is no mention of the Education licence. It appears that their accounts worked for a year, but now expired - but we have other students where their Fusion 360 accounts are working fine, and have the 'student' products & services listed within their profile.

Students had registered their own accounts (emails etc). Many student accounts, are now stating that they have expired, and need to subscribe etc. Thank you, robyholmes We are experiencing similar type of issues with Fusion 360 too. Please let me know if your using the product and how your finding it. I'm hoping I can find a number of schools in the same position and approach Autodesk with that fact. They just don't seem to think its an issue. We can't seem to get anyone at Autodesk to provide an answer on why this is happening despite trying different channels. I'm wanting to find out if other schools using Fusion 360 are having the same problems. Meaning we're down to using one of two computers at a time! This has come to a head now as we're doing for a few accounts which are working, but Autodesk have decided to introduce a new measure to stop you logging in to Fusion in multiple places with the same account. We've been to Autodesk Support various times about this and each time get told accounts don't exist (When they do) or that the issue is out of there hands. Accounts either don't register or more commonly, expire after 30 days and completing the 'I'm an educational user' doesn't work. However for quite sometime now he's been having problems with students registering educational accounts. I'm posting really on behave of my DT teacher who has been a big advocate of Autodesk's Fusion 360 software.
